Privacy Policy

A plain-language description of what this demo website stores on your device, which third-party services it loads and what it does not collect.

This Privacy Policy describes the demo edition of US Star Everyday. It is a draft written in plain language to show how a live publication could explain its practices. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and it should be replaced with a reviewed policy before any real publication takes place.

What this site does not collect

The demo edition has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment system, no mailing list and no contact form. It does not ask you to enter your name, email address, phone number or any other personal details. The search box on the site runs in your browser, and the words you type are not sent to a server operated by this site.

What is stored on your device

Two small pieces of information are kept in your browser's local storage. The first is your choice of light or dark theme. The second is the list of stories you have saved with the bookmark button. You can remove both by clearing the site data in your browser settings, or by using the clear option on the Saved page. Nothing in local storage is sent to us.

Third-party services

To display fonts, icons and styling, the pages load resources from third-party providers. These include Google Fonts for typography and icons, and a Tailwind CSS script from a content delivery network. When your browser requests these resources, the providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. Their own privacy policies describe how they handle that information.

Some pages may link to external websites in the future. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we recommend reading their policies before you share information with them.

Children

This site is not directed at children under the age of thirteen, and it does not knowingly collect information from them. Because the demo edition does not collect personal information, there is nothing to delete, but parents with concerns can read this page and contact the publisher once a contact method has been published.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the publication develops. The date of the latest change will be shown at the top of the page once the publication is live. For the demo edition, this page describes the current behaviour of the site, and any future feature that collects information will require a new policy.

Your choices

You can browse the site without giving us any information. You can switch the theme, save or unsave stories and clear your local storage at any time. If you have a specific question about privacy, the Contact page explains what details are currently available.
